DE Mar – Apr 2026 Edition

Editor’s Note

We rarely notice it at first—the way a space holds us. The quiet comfort of a well-lit corner, the grounding presence of natural material, the ease with which certain rooms allow us to simply be. Architecture and interior design, at their most thoughtful, go beyond visual appeal; they shape our inner landscape. In an increasingly restless world, creating spaces that are both aesthetic and intentional has become essential—not as a statement of style, but as a means to restore mental calm and clarity.

This edition turns its lens toward one of the most compelling movements redefining interiors today—collectible design. No longer confined to galleries or auctions, these art-led pieces are finding their way into everyday living spaces, blurring the line between function and expression. We explore this global shift through standout showcases at PAD Paris and Collectible Brussels, where furniture transforms into sculpture, and objects carry stories far beyond their utility.

In every issue, I find myself drawn to questions that sit just beneath the surface of design. This time, it is a thought that feels both timely and inevitable: Why is collectible design replacing traditional luxury furniture?
Perhaps the answer lies in how we define value today. Luxury was once about material, scale, and finish. Now, it is about individuality, narrative, and emotional resonance. A collectible piece doesn’t just fill a space—it anchors it. It introduces imperfection, authorship, and a sense of rarity that mass-produced luxury often cannot replicate.

Through this lens, design begins to feel less like consumption and more like curation—an evolving expression of who we are.

On our cover, we present a rammed earth farmhouse that reconnects us with ancient building traditions—an architectural language rooted in craft, climate, and context. Inside, we delve into the nuanced world of interior styling through conversations with both emerging and established stylists across the country, uncovering how spaces are layered with intention.

We also speak with architects shaping contemporary homes—each project offering a distinct interpretation of beauty and belonging. Beyond spaces, our DE Products section brings together a curated selection of collectible objects from India and Milan—pieces that elevate interiors not through excess, but through meaning and presence.

Perhaps the future of design lies not in having more, but in choosing better. In surrounding ourselves with objects and spaces that carry thought, memory, and purpose.

As you move through this issue, I hope you find inspiration not just in what is seen, but in what is felt—in the quiet power of design to ground us, to move us, and to make everyday life just a little more meaningful.

Let’s Talk Design with DE. Happy Reading.

Cheers!!
