Inception Collection / Haruma

Taking cues from the brutalist lines of the Dune universe, Haruma’s Inception collection finds its unique identity in the overwhelming Indian design space.

Haruma, a premier luxury furniture brand from Ahmedabad has carved a niche in the Indian design domain through its Inception Collection inspired from unusual elements. Drawing inspiration from brutalism, this collection merges raw textures with bold contrasts and architectural precision, transforming furniture into a captivating art form. “The idea was to create futuristic, functional pieces while retaining cultural and ethnic elements and colours. Each piece exemplifies minimalist design, where structure meets simplicity, creating a powerful spatial presence,” explains Parth Patel, Founder, Haruma.

Designed by Ramesh Lohar and Bindi Shah of R+R Architects, the collection pushes the boundaries of modern furniture design by exploring the interplay of shadows and form. Certain pieces take direct inspiration from the Dune universe. Ramesh Lohar says, “Inspired by the ornithopter from the Frank Herbert novel Dune, the Dark Horse Light captures the essence of flight and movement, with flexible ball joints that emphasize mechanical sophistication. Its brutalist material palette, solid wood, carved marble, and brass lends, it a sense of timeless strength and artistry.” The Sand Dune Chair redefines dining comfort with its innovative blend of materials and sleek design, while the Warden Armchair is a striking fusion of layered geometry and modern comfort, embodying distinct brutalist aesthetics.

The materials, from the striking allure of red Levante marble to the warmth of Ashwood and travertine, are carefully selected to ensure enduring beauty and durability. Each piece is a testament to Haruma’s commitment to quality, combining traditional craftsmanship and modern aesthetics.
