Nestled in the heart of Jaipur, the historic Pink City. This expansive 7,500 sq. ft. residence by AshttVinayak Architect and Interiors (AVAI) Studio embodies a seamless synthesis of modern contemporary design and contextual warmth. Conceptualized by architects Daksh Vyas and Aastha Chaturvedi, the home is envisioned as a serene yet spirited sanctuary, effortlessly open to natural light and airflow while grounded in elegance and functionality.

The design begins with a bold gesture: a stately teakwood entrance door in a deep, natural finish, its checkerboard motif and sculptural handle forming a tactile overture to what lies within. An arched cut out above channels sunlight into the adjacent glass-and-wood-panelled puja room, where a delicate row of bells sings with every breeze a gentle intersection of ritual and design.

Inside, the interiors are composed with an instinctive reverence for texture, materiality, and proportion. A restrained palette allows natural materials to take center stage Sagwan wood tells stories of lineage and craft, while veined marble offers quiet opulence. Brass lends a touch of radiance; duco finishes introduce contemporary sheen; and terracotta connects the architecture to the earth with soulful grounding.

The drawing and living rooms are arranged around a central green court, fostering a fluid dialogue between built form and nature. Layered textures from tactile wallpapers and paint finishes to soft furnishings define each volume without disrupting spatial continuity. Furniture, curated with intention, becomes sculpture in motion, offering both functionality and form.

The staircase, bordered by a verdant planter, rises not just as a passage but as a moment of pause a communal node inviting connection. In contrast, the dining space presents a calm, whitewashed canvas, animated by floor-to-ceiling windows that choreograph daylight through their rhythmic vertical lines.

Upstairs, the family’s private quarters unfold like chapters in a lived-in narrative. The son’s room evokes the drama of a desert sunset, with cane accents injecting playful contrast. The daughter’s space is a whimsical two-storey cocoon her bed nestled atop a mezzanine in a palette of soft blush tones, evoking both comfort and enchantment.

At the apex of the home, a semi-shaded terrace enclosed by terracotta jali offers a poetic interplay of light and shadow. As the sun filters through its intricate geometry, the space becomes a living canvas a retreat for contemplation, conversation, and slow, quiet living.
